I am delighted to announce the winners of our inaugural Tots to Travel Just Go! Awards! The announcement was made earlier this morning in a virtual ceremony on Twitter.
These awards are the first in the UK to focus exclusively on family friendly travel products that make life easier for parents travelling with young children.
With the summer holidays just around the corner, we wanted to help parents find the essential products that will make their holiday easier and more relaxing. We were looking for items that solved real travel problems that most parents face. The products needed to be small, light or easy to pack, be great quality, be versatile so that they’re not exclusively used for just two weeks a year, represent good value for money and be thoroughly practical. A tall order!
The judges, who included me and my husband and Tots co-founder Rob, Kathryn Blundell (Editor of Mother & Baby magazine), Amanda Morison (Travel Writer for Angels & Urchins), Nicola Grant (Founder of Holiday Nanny) and Gavin McOwan (Family Travel Writer for the Guardian), collectively have 12 children between us and are experts on what makes travelling with tots easier.
The winners by category are (drum roll please!)...
Fun & Games
Fuzzoodles – pipe cleaner craft toy (£9.99)
We immediately grabbed the Fuzzoodles and began to create monsters of our own! We loved the colours and tactile nature of the giant pipe cleaners and monster ‘bits' and felt that they would pack up small and work well on the plane, as a rainy day holiday activity or even during meal times to stop boredom setting in.
For the journey
Bubblebum Inflatable Car Booster – inflatable car booster seat (£29.99)
This is a clear winner as it is quick, easy, safe and answers the real problem of how to pack a bulky booster seat into your holiday luggage.
Sleeping
Snoozeshade – UV protection snooze shade for prams (£19.99)
The Snoozeshade had a clear fan base within the judging panel. It’s a ‘no hassle’ product that offers sheer convenience, sun safety and versatility, whilst ensuring that the whole family can have a proper holiday whilst the little one sleeps.
Safety
Milton Sterilising Tablets (£2.29)
Sometimes the old faves are still the best! No need for expensive gadgets - the Milton Sterilising Tablets are so small, versatile and cost effective that they are an ideal travel product and a clear winner in our ‘Safety’ category.
Feeding
Totseat – fabric high chair alternative (£24.50)
The Totseat packs away small, goes in the washing machine and is a ‘no brainer’ product for hungry tots on the go. The judges loved this nifty alternative to a high chair and gave it a unanimous vote within this category.
SPECIAL COMMENDATION
Morrck Splasha – soft hooded towelling wrap (£19.95)
This is a product that we’d be upset to forget! We were so impressed with the quality, feel and design of the Morrck Splasha that we felt it deserved a special award for being a product that we all loved!
