When we returned from a fantastic skiing holiday en-famille back in January, I found that it wasn’t only the skiing that I loved but I also found ourselves cooing at the mountains, breathing in the fresh mountain air and munching far too many pains au chocolat!
The hills are alive...
It may also be something to do with the fact that we watched The Sound of Music that made me think that a spring or summer holiday in the Alps would be just magical. The sound of cow bells, spring walks, chair lift rides and probably more pains au chocolat make this a very appealing concept.
We stayed at Etoile des Beaux Arts but equally you could stay at the superbly equipped and beautiful Chalet Les Cimes or one of our other Alpine gems - the stylish L'Enclave or the fabulous 'away from it all' Auberge du Soleil.
Full of family fun..
The area is jam packed with spring, summer and early autumn activities from walking (gentle or more adventurous, you choose) to mountain biking, train rides, cable cars and chair lifts, as well as a plethora of mountain restaurants and panoramic picnic opportunities.
Chalet Les Cimes, for example, is in Morzine in the heart of the Portes du Soleil (Gateway to the Sun) straddling France and Switzerland. Situated midway between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, this Savoyard village has stunning Alpine scenery and is perfect for relaxing or sporting family holidays. The village itself has the much coveted ‘Famille Plus’ award which vouches for family friendliness. Indeed should you tire of relaxing at the gorgeous chalet (if that's possible), then the mountain trains, tennis, open air pools and walks aplenty will help to keep your little ones entertained.
For Mums and Dads...
For mums and dads whose lives are not complete without some daring feat – climbing rock faces or tearing down mountains on a mountain bike for example - then I can highly recommend the babysitting agency, Babycham, based in Chamonix. They have a very experienced array of English babysitters who are flexible and reliable. We tested two of their team and can give them the double thumbs up. This means that you can have a holiday that balances your needs as adults with the needs of your children. If you do manage to grab sometime to yourself, there's swedish massage and a sauna at the sports centre in Morzine...bliss.
Getting there…
Getting there is easy (drive or fly), transfer to the chalet is even easier (1hr 10 mins of easy driving from Geneva) and from there you can do as much or as little as you fancy.
Waste no time! Contact the Tots team now on enquiries@totstotravel.co.uk or call anytime on 0845 26 941 26. We’re open until 9pm so do call once you have your little ones settled in bed!
